Have you ever had that quiet, nagging feeling in the back of your mind about your drinking? That subtle voice that whispers something might be off? Most of us ignore it, explain it away, or drown it out with the very thing causing the concern.

For years, I was a master at ignoring those whispers. Until I couldn’t anymore.

The journey from social drinking to a problematic relationship with alcohol is rarely a sudden fall. It’s a slow, gradual slide—a crossing of lines so subtle you often don’t see them until you’re looking back. But what if you knew what to look for? What if you could recognize the warning signs before the consequences become severe?

I’ve created a new video that lays out these critical red flags. It’s a message born from my own experience, years in recovery rooms, and a deep desire to help others avoid the pain I went through.

Highlighting the Warning Signs

In the video, I dive deep into the five major categories of warning signs that your drinking may be crossing the line from a habit into a problem:

  1. The Behavioral Shifts: This is where it often starts. We discuss the rising tolerance that tricks you into thinking you’re in control, and the creeping schedule where a one-night-a-week ritual slowly annexes other days. Most painfully, we talk about the isolation—the slow withdrawal from friends, family, and spouses to avoid judgment or simply to be alone with the bottle.
  2. The Real-World Consequences: When your drinking begins to impact the pillars of your life, it’s a major red flag. This includes slipping performance at work and planning your entire vacations—your precious time for rest and connection—around the availability of alcohol.
  3. The Physical Cries for Help: Your body will send you bills, and they get steeper. We cover the clear physical signs, including tremors (“the shakes”), blackouts (losing time), debilitating hangovers that are really bouts of poisoning, and the weight gain and lethargy that come from a body under constant attack.

These aren’t just items on a list; they are symptoms of a deeper issue. Acknowledging them is not a sign of failure, but the first, bravest step toward taking your power back.

There Is Always Hope

The most important part of this conversation is the message of hope. Seeing these signs in your life is not a life sentence. It is a wake-up call. In the video, I don’t just outline the problem—I point toward the practical, first steps you can take toward a solution, grounded in both practical advice and spiritual faith.

You do not have to walk this path alone.
